Topic review - PCLinuxOS Broadcom bug how to fix

Post subject:  PCLinuxOS Broadcom bug how to fix  Reply with quote
When I installed PCLinuxOS onto my Dell Latitude 6530 via stick (64GB Kingston G2, green swivel), at first it wouldn't go on the internet cuz my wireless on that particular machine (I have 3) isn't Intel, but Broadcom.

Turns out the PCLinuxOS .nl repo doesn't have the Broadcom drivers, but repo list in, YES has the driver. Else I'd have to learn how to download from Broadcom site and learn to use tar.gz.. which I don't want to learn yet.

So I unplugged the stick from the 6530, stuck it in my Dell Lat 6510 which for some reason has an older Broadcom wireless pclos can recognize, and downloaded all the 'wireless' drivers in Synaptic from the site.

Now pclos works in Dell Lat 6530. ONE MORE REASON TO NEVER INSTALL LINUX TO AN INTERNAL HARD DRIVE, cuz what if your peripherals/hardware/etc change?
