You can still find good Win7 computers at Dell or Ebay. I've had good experience with both. Dell offers a year warranty, maybe.

Used to be able to search on Win7, but I see no search now. One of the options near the top is 'Dell Refurbished' which is where I bought some Win7 machines also, later models.
My last 6530 (a 2012 model) I got at Dell Auction for only $300, with FHD, 8GB memory, full Win7 Pro and other goodies I don't remember. I didn't think I'd win the auction at that price (it was a $3,000 machine when new). So prices come down fast.
Ebay, I'll have to look up the seller cuz it matters what seller you pick.
On the other hand, maybe you can get Apple and run Win7 inside it. Like you I'm not that tech savvy, but I installed many Linux flavors on external hard drives so if Win7 tanks I can then revert to Linux. It handles Firefox, Adobe, Word/Excel which are really all I use anymore.

There are times that I seriously consider driving my fist through the screen of this sorry excuse of modern technology, but then the Lord promptly reminds me of the METER. As much as I HATE Windows 8, it is my only practical way to analyze the meter without reverting to OT methods. So Windows 8 isn't my friend, nor is it my enemy, it has become my FRIENEMY....much like the Soviet Union was to the USA, as WWII came to a close.
Windows 8....Just wait until the day that I no longer need your substandard services. It is quickly approaching. Perhaps Alienware can fill your shoes.
