Wannacrypt has been a Massive wake up call for many in the industry threatening Windows versions across the board (including Windows 10).

Windows XP users have come under vicious attack for continuing to use the system from parts of the media. (ZDNet being the major culprit)

Jason Perlow was particularly obnoxious with this cheap and vicious article

Upgrade already! If you're still using Windows XP, you're a menace to society. And, if you're an IT pro with decision-making capacity in an organization that continues to use XP, you should be fired.

Here in the UK the National Health Service is massively under funded. Upgrading to Windows 10 would be relatively cheap compared to rewriting the highly specialised software designed to run on XP. It would cost Billions to implement. Only the UK Government can determine the upgrade timescale.

Of course I am not permitted to comment on this article (which would be scathing) following being banned for a heated disagreement with Ed Bott.

Other vicious attacks have been made towards those that cannot afford to upgrade their Hardware and even more distasteful the elderly have been targeted for continuing to use XP.

Windows 10 recently had MORE security vulnerabilities than Windows 7. So there is NO EXCUSE to say "you need to upgrade to Windows 10" when again, it has more issues.
